SALT LAKE CITY (May 26, 2008) - The Salt Lake Bees announced today that the club has placed right-handed pitcher David Austen on the disabled list with a left knee strain and recalled left-handed pitcher Chris Armstrong from single-A Cedar Rapids.

Austen, 27, has appeared in five games for the Bees in 2008, owning a 1-1 record with a 3.80 ERA. In five games for the Arkansas Travelers this season, Austen has a 0-1 record with a 4.61 ERA. The St. Petersburg, Fla. native was originally selected by the Angels in the 15th round of the 2003 draft.

Armstrong, 20, joins the Bees for his second stint in triple-A after being recalled on May 7 from extended spring training. In three games for Salt Lake, the Tulsa, Okla. native owns a 1-0 record with a 3.00 ERA. He holds a 0-1 record and 4.50 ERA in four games with the Cedar Rapids Kernels this season.
