The New Orleans Zephyrs defeated the visiting Albuquerque Isotopes 8-2 on Monday to complete a sweep of the four-game divisional series in New Orleans.
First baseman Michel Abreu and right fielder Valentino Pascucci both had three RBI each and both drove in all of the runs on a double. Pascucci's double came in the third inning with the bases loaded, while Abreu put the game away with his three RBI double in the eighth inning.
The Zephyrs scored an additional two runs in the eighth off of a two-run homer by third baseman Anderson Machado, his third of the year.
Starting pitcher Brian Stokes (5-5) picked up the win to even his record. Stokes worked six innings and gave up two runs on four hits.
The pitching performance was yet another strong outing in the series, with the Zephyrs holding the 'Topes to a .153 average overall in the homestand.
Starter Marcos Carvajal (1-1) recorded the loss for Albuquerque. Carvajal gave up three runs on two hits in five innings of play.
The game capped a crisp field series for both teams, as no errors were committed in the four-game set.
The Zephyrs will stay at home to finish out their eight-game homestand when they welcome in another division rival Tuesday - the Round Rock Express. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 PM CT.
