Red Wings Snag First Win in 615 Days
May 7, 2021 - International League (IL) - Rochester Red Wings News Release
For the first time in 615 days, the Red Wings have won a baseball game.
After three straight walk-off losses to start the season, the Wings beat the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, 10-3, Friday night in Allentown, PA.
The Red Wing (1-3) took advantage of four walks and hit batter in the second inning to plate six runs and blow the game open, 7-3.
The previous half inning it was wildness from starter Jefry Rodriguez that gave the IronPigs the early lead. The 'Pigs scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning on six walks and zero hits.
Nationals prospect, Luis Garcia, hit his second leadoff home run in four games to give Rochester the early 1-0 lead. Garcia finished the game 2-for-4 with a double, homer and three RBI.
Carter Kieboom also collected a pair of hits and knocked in three runs for Rochester.
The bullpen combo of Joan Baez, Bryan Bonnell, Andres Machado and Kyle McGowin combined to toss 8 1/3 scoreless innings for Wings allowing just three hits and walk while striking out eight.
The Wings will look to put together a win streak Saturday night with Rogelio Armenteros on the bump set to make his debut in game five of the season opening six-game series.
