RED DEER, AB - Brent Sutter, General Manager/Head Coach of the Red Deer Rebels, announced today that Ashton Rome will be the team's captain this season. He is entering his fourth year in the Western Hockey League. Rome is a 4th round pick, 108th overall, of the Boston Bruins in the 2004 National Hockey League Entry Draft.
The alternate captains will be Matthew Hansen, Ted Vandermeer, and Jared Walker.
The Red Deer Rebels open the 2005-2006 WHL season Friday, September 23rd at home to the Calgary Hitmen, 7:30 PM at the ENMAX Centrium.
