November 14, 2015 - NBA G League (G League)
Maine Celtics News Release
CANTON, OH - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Unum, lost a 29-point lead but still held on to beat Canton Saturday night, 106-99. It is Maine's first win of the season (1-1) - and the Claws can thank the Boston Celtics assignees.
Guard Terry Rozier led Maine with 29 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Rozier was making his Red Claws debut, assigned by the Celtics earlier in the day. Jordan Mickey's strong first half helped him to a near triple-double - Mickey finished with 19 points, 12 rebounds and 7 blocks. James Young added 14 points on 5-16 shooting.
The Red Claws took command in the first quarter, pounding the Charge 34-16 in the opening stanza. Mickey and Rozier set the pace early, and did not let up in the second period. Maine extended to a 29-point lead over Canton, taking a 60-42 lead into the break. Mickey had 16 points on 7-8 shooting and 10 boards in the first half alone.
The Charge came roaring back in the 3rd. Canton went on a 22-3 run to take the lead at 64-63. Corey Walden helped weather the storm - a couple of quick buckets gave the Claws the lead again. Maine held an 82-80 lead heading into the 4th quarter.
The game was tied at 92-92 with 4:00 to go - from there, the Red Claws finished on a 14-7 run - Mickey and Young made back-to-back three pointers to seal the deal.
Levi Randolph finished with 15 points for the Red Claws. Joe Harris, on assignment from the Cleveland Cavaliers, led all scorers with 31 points - the most ever by a Charge player against the Red Claws.
The Red Claws next travel to Canada on Thursday, November 19 for their first ever game against the NBA D-League's newest affiliate, Raptors 905. Maine then heads home for its home opener on Friday, November 20 against Raptors 905. Tickets are on sale now by calling 207-210-6655 or visiting MaineRedClaws.com.
