
Iowa Energy Start Season with Win at Sioux Falls

Sioux Falls, SD - The Iowa Energy (1-0) won 98-95 over the Sioux Falls Skyforce (0-1) Saturday night at the Sanford Pentagon.
The Energy were led by Cartier Martin with a game-high 32 points and seven rebounds. Joel Wright added 17 points and Alex Stephenson recorded a double-double with 13 points and 17 rebounds. The Skyforce were led by Greg Whittington with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Sioux Falls jumped out to a quick start, opening up an early lead over the Energy. Sioux Falls would extend the lead to 13 points mid-way through the first. Iowa would fight back to end the first quarter on a 6-0 run to trail Sioux Falls 26-21 heading into the second quarter. The Energy would keep it close to start the second quarter and took the lead for the first time after a made three-pointer from Andrew Harrison with 6:56 left until halftime. Iowa outscored Sioux Falls 31-25 in the quarter to hold a 52-51 halftime lead.
Iowa started the second half hot, going on a 7-2 run to open up a 59-53 lead. Sioux Falls would fight right back to take the lead. The Energy and Skyforce would go on to exchange the lead five times in a back and forth third quarter. Martin had 10 points in the third to help lead the Energy to a 77-73 advantage heading into the fourth quarter. It continued to be a close game in the fourth with Iowa taking the lead for good with 1:01 to play. Sioux Falls had a chance to tie the game at the buzzer, but the Iowa defense held strong to force a bad desperation shot as the Energy won 98-95.
The Energy travel to Idaho to play the Stampede this Wednesday at 6 p.m. The Energy then come home for Opening Night presented by Cognizant on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 7p.m. Fans can enjoy $2 beer, rally towel giveaway and a halftime performance by Acrodunk.
