
Skyforce Fall against Energy 95-98 in Home Opener

Sioux Falls, SD -- The Sioux Falls Skyforce (0-1) lost 95-98 to the Iowa Energy (1-0) on Friday night at the Sanford Pentagon.
Tre Kelley (21 points, 8 assists), Greg Whittington (18 points, 11 rebounds), and DeAndre Liggins (16 points, 8 assists, 7 rebounds) lead the way as five different players scored in double figures for the Skyforce in the loss.
Cartier Martin recorded a game-high 32 points along with seven rebounds, and was accompanied by Alex Stephenson (13 points, 17 rebounds), and four other players that scored in double figures for the Energy.
Kieth Benson (11 points, 6 rebounds) led a balanced offensive attack through the first twelve minutes, as seven Skyforce players scored in the quarter. Sioux Falls jumped out to an early lead, leading by as many as 13 points before Iowa finished the quarter on a 10-2 scoring run bringing the game to within five.
The Energy continued their momentum, taking a 37-35 lead on an Andrew Harrison (11 points, 7 assists) three-point field goal midway through the second quarter. Iowa stretched its lead to six as Joel Wright (17 points, 6 rebounds) provided a spark off the bench with 15 first half points. A buzzer beating three-point basket by Kelley brought the Skyforce to within one as they trailed 51-52 heading into the halftime break.
Following a number of lead changes, Iowa ended the third quarter on a 9-2 run, getting consistent production from Martin, taking a 77-73 lead into the final period.
Sioux Falls started the fourth quarter by going on a 12-4 run to take an 85-81 lead with 5:53 left to go in the game. Iowa, however, clawed its way back to retake a three-point lead with 2.5 seconds left in regulation, and a three-point attempt by Whittington at the buzzer sealed the victory for the Energy.
The Skyforce will look to earn their first win of the season next Friday, November 20, as they go on the road to face the Westchester Knicks (1-0) in White Plains, NY.
