November 14, 2015 - NBA G League (G League)
Grand Rapids Drive News Release
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (November 14, 2015) - Kelsey Barlow drained a 3-pointer to open the game and he didn't stop shooting after that. Barlow finished with 22 points as the Grand Rapids Drive beat the Delaware 87ers 113-101 on Saturday night in the season opener for both teams.
Grand Rapids (1-0) had five players score in double figures, led by Devin Ebanks, who had a double-double with 23 points and 15 rebounds.
With the scored tied 21-21 late in the first quarter, Lorenzo Brown got a lob pass from Adonis Thomas for alley-oop dunk. That triggered a 13-4 run to give Grand Rapids a 34-24 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Grand Rapids, which led 63-45 at halftime, also had 22 points from Ryan Boatright, followed by Henry Sims (15) and Brown (13).
Barlow, a 6-foot-5 forward out of the University of Illinois-Chicago, was 8-of-12 from the field, including 5-of-6 from 3-point range. Ebanks, a 6-foot-9 forward who played parts of three season in the NBA with the Los Angeles Lakers, was 9-of-16 from the field.
David Laury, a forward out of Iona, had a game-high 24 points for Delaware (0-1). Jordan McRae, who scored 10 points in the first quarter, finished with 22, followed by Gary Talton (11) and Ladarius White (10).
McRae drained a 3-pointer to get the 87ers to within five points midway through in the fourth quarter - 85-80 - but that is as close as it would get for Delaware.
Ty Greene, a rookie guard playing in his first professional game, scored 9 points, all in the second half. Greene, who played at the University of South Carolina Upstate, was 3-of-4 from 3-point range.
Grand Rapids and Delaware each return to play on Tuesday, Nov. 17. Grand Rapids travels to the Austin Spurs and Delaware hosts the Canton Charge.
