South Carolina Stingrays News Release
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays announced today that the two weeks of training camp will include not only practice this season, but also a city-wide tour by the players as they join our sponsors, radio stations, and charities throughout the city for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
The Rays first stop is at the Charleston Miracle League tournament on Saturday, October 7 from 9:00 a.m. until noon. The players, along with Cool Ray, will be present at all three tournament games at the ballpark located in West Ashley. Players will help the children on and off the field with their baseball skills, social skills, and self-esteem.
Saturday night begins the Stingrays version of Taste of Charleston. All the players will be eating dinner at Buffalo South beginning at 6:00 p.m. Buffalo South was kind enough to supply food for the players on Sunday afternoon as well to get their energy up before they take the ice for their first official practice of camp starting at 1:00 p.m. Don't forget the practice is open to the public.
Another proud sponsor of the Stingrays, Benito's New York Pastaria in the Mt. Pleasant Town Center, will have the whole team over on Sunday night after practice for an authentic Italian dinner. Dinner is served promptly at 6:00 p.m., so don't be late!
The breakfast and lunch portions of the tour start up on Monday. Every morning fans can find the Rays eating breakfast at the Shoney's on Rivers Avenue. Those early risers can join them for the buffet starting at 7 a.m.
Firehouse Bar and Grill, the official sponsor of the Stingrays' training camp, will be providing food for the players everyday starting at 1:00 p.m. Firehouse Bar and Grill offers great appetizers, entrees, and deserts. Come out and eat with the Rays every afternoon.
Monday night finds the players joining the crew of 95 SX at Manny's Neighborhood Grill at 7:00 p.m. Fans will have the chance to win tickets to opening night courtesy of Manny's and 95 SX.
The players will get their pizza fix in on Tuesday as they join the employees and patrons of CiCi's Pizza in Mt. Pleasant for their famous pizza buffet. Starting at 4:30, fans can come out and enjoy the good food and good company.
Wild Wings, at their downtown location, will be hosting the players on Wednesday night starting at 8:00 p.m. When 96 Wave joins the Rays at 9:00 p.m. for Wild Wild Wednesday, fans will again have the chance to win tickets to opening night courtesy of Wild Wings and the Wave.
The Stingrays take the ice against the Columbia Inferno for the preseason game on October 13 at the Carolina Ice Palace. After the game, fans can join the players at the Penalty Box, the Ice Palace's own bar and grill for food and drinks.
Saturday marks a hiatus on the city tour as the Rays travel to Charlotte to face the Checkers for their second preseason game.
The Rays are back in town on Sunday for some barbeque at George's out on Savannah Highway in West Ashley starting at 5:00 p.m.
The Stingrays' Coaches Show starts back up on Monday October 16 at Bobby Hartin's Sports Grill at 7:00 p.m. Broadcasting live on ESPN Radio 910 The Team, the new Voice of the Rays, Mike Kelly, head coach Jason Fitzsimmons, and Steve Fraser will talk hockey. Players will be in attendance for the show, and ESPN Radio and Bobby Hartin's will be giving away tickets to the game on October 21.
