'Blades deal Martens to J-Town

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades President & General Manager Craig Brush, along with Head Coach Gerry Fleming announced today that the team has traded defenseman Andrew Martens to the Johnstown Chiefs for financial considerations.
Martens was originally signed by the Everblades on July 20. The 6'1", 205 pound blue-liner skated in five regular season games with the Greenville Grrrowl last year, during which he tallied one assist. In six Kelly Cup Playoff games the 25-year-old also picked up one assist.
Prior to signing with Greenville last year, the native of Friendswood, Texas helped lead Bemidji State University to the CHA Tournament Championship and a berth in the NCAA tournament by notching 24 points (5g, 19a) in 37 games . Overall in his three seasons with the Beavers, Martens compiled 40 points (11g, 29a) in 101 games.
