
Rays Sting Inferno 7-3

N. CHARLESTON, S.C. (October 20, 2007) - Brad Ralph netted a hat trick and the only scoring of the night as South Carolina sting the Inferno 7-3.
South Carolina started the scoring at 9:36 as Tim Judy caught a rebound off of the pads of Inferno goaltender Jeff Jakaitis. Less than :30 later, Brad Ralph rockets a wrist shot from the top of the face off circle to tie the game at one a piece. Phil Oreskovic had the assist. Eighteen seconds later, Matt Scherer scores off of another rebound shot to give the Stingrays the 2-1 lead. At 13:14, South Carolina 's Grant McNeill cleared the puck, the puck took a bad bounce and went over the shoulders of Jakaitis for the shorthanded goal. Cail MacLean finished the scoring for the first period at 17:21 on a 5-on-3 power play. The Stingrays outshot the Inferno 18-4 at the end of the first.
On the power play, Daniel Sparre and Jeff Miles create the perfect set-up for Ralph as he nets his second goal of the night only :26 into the second period. At 8:17 on a 5-on-3 advantage for the Stingrays, Travis Morin one-times a shot past Jakaitis to give South Carolina the 5-2 lead. The Stingrays would add one more goal in the second by Chris Chaput. Ralph scored his third goal of the night at 17:23 from Miles and Owen Fussey.
The Stingrays added the only goal in the third to give them the guaranteed win over the Inferno. The Inferno outshot the Stingrays 29-28 and was 2-for-10 on the power play.
Columbia returns home to face the Augusta Lynx on Friday, October 26 at 7:05pm. First 1,500 fans in the doors will receive a magnet schedule sponsored by Time Warner Cable.
