South Carolina Stingrays News Release

North Charleston, SC South Carolina Stingrays Head Coach Jason Fitzsimmons announced today that the team has traded Trevor G Johnson to the Texas Wildcatters in exchange for the rights to Ryan Finnerty. The Wildcatters earned the rights to Finnerty in a trade earlier today with the Victoria Salmon Kings.

Finnerty, a center from Lethbridge, Alberta, scored 13 goals and added 13 assists in 52 games last season for the Victoria Salmon Kings. The fifth year professional racked up 165 penalty minutes on the season as well. Finnerty spent his first two seasons as a professional with the Peoria Rivermen from 2001-2003. He spent the 2003-04 season with the San Angelo Saints of the Central league and scored 59 points on 22 goals and 37 assists.

"We think Ryan is going to prove to be a big pick up for us this season," commented Fitzsimmons. "He is one of the top two way centermen in the league."

Johnson was acquired last season by the Stingrays for Scott Basiuk from the Peoria Rivermen. Johnson, a fourth year defenseman, had 24 points last season on five goals and 19 assists in 38 games.

The Stingrays will drop the puck on their 13th season of professional hockey in October. A variety of season ticket and group ticket packages are already on sale. For ticket information contact the Stingrays office at 744-2248 or log on to www.stingrayshockey.com.
