Fresno Falcons News Release

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons' roster for the upcoming 2005-06 ECHL season has grown to 14 players with the addition of centerman Peter Fregoe and defenseman Shawn Weiman. The pair of third-year pros will reunite in Fresno after playing together at Providence College from 1999-2003.

Fregoe produced more than a point per game and led his team in scoring last season with 56 points (22g-34a) in 47 games while playing for the Hannover Indians in Germany's Oberliga. During his rookie campaign in 2003-04, he split time between the ECHL's Trenton Titans and Pensacola Ice Pilots, recording a total of 43 points (19g-24a) in 66 games played. Prior to turning pro, the New York state native compiled 148 points (68g-80a) during his four years at Providence following a standout junior career with the United States Hockey League's Des Moines Buccaneers. In 1998-99 during his final year as a junior, he led the Bucs to the USHL's regular season and playoff crowns while being named both league MVP and playoff MVP.

Weiman played last season for the Central Hockey League's Oklahoma City Blazers, posting 24 points (4g-20a) and 77 penalty minutes in 60 games. He, too, spent his rookie season in the ECHL, splitting time among three teams for which he registered 22 points (2g-20a) and 73 penalty minutes in a combined 67 games. After earning Most Outstanding Defenseman accolades in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League in 1998-99, Weiman teamed up with Fregoe in a Friars sweater. He totaled 30 points (6g-24a) over four years at Providence and was named to the Hockey East All-Academic Team as a senior in 2002-03.
