Texas Wildcatters News Release

BEAUMONT, TX (September 12, 2005) - Texas Wildcatters Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Tony MacAulay announced today the team has acquired South Carolina Stingrays defenseman Trevor G. Johnson as part of a three-team trade between Texas, South Carolina and Victoria. Texas traded the ECHL rights of Aaron MacInnis and Simon Mangos to Victoria in exchange for Ryan Finnerty, who was then shipped to South Carolina for Johnson.

The 5-foot-10, 177-pound defenseman from Trail, BC was acquired by South Carolina last season in a three-team trade with Las Vegas and Peoria and scored eight goals and 26 assists to go along with 65 penalty minutes. Johnson also earned a three-game stint in the American Hockey League, picking up four penalty minutes in three games with the Hershey Bears.

Prior to turning pro in 2003, Johnson played five seasons in the Western Hockey League, finishing his junior career with 51 goals, 148 assists and 509 penalty minutes in 322 regular season games. He also appeared in 48 postseason contests, scoring five goals and adding 14 assists. In 2000, Johnson and the Kootenay Ice represented the Western Hockey League in the MasterCard Memorial Cup, which was their first ever appearance in the CHL final tournament.

"Trevor is a quality defenseman with game-breaking attributes," stated MacAulay. "His offensive abilities can prove to be amongst the best in the ECHL. With these characteristics, Trevor should excel under the new rule changes being implemented this season."

The new-look Wildcatters open their third season on October 21 at Florida, before returning to Ford Arena for the home opener on October 29 against the Mississippi Sea Wolves.
