Rawhide Release 2013 California League Schedule

VISALIA-While the Visalia Rawhide are celebrating their 66th season with another record attendance pace, they are already looking ahead to next season, as the 2013 California League schedule was released today.
For the first time in nearly a decade, the Rawhide will open and close the season at home. They'll play their home opener against the San Jose Giants, affiliates of the San Francisco Giants, on Thursday, April 4th. The Rawhide will face the Giants 14 times in Visalia, the most visits of any team in 2013.
The 'Hide will also face the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, affiliates of the Los Angeles Dodgers, 7 times at Rawhide Ballpark in 2013, with a 4-game and 3-game series in each half: June 6th-9th and again August 2nd-4th. Rancho will be the only Southern Division club to visit Visalia twice.
Additionally, the Rawhide will again host their Independence Day Fireworks Spectacular on July 3rd, as they will play the Stockton Ports (Oakland A's) in a certain sellout.
As always, Visalia will play 70 home and 70 away games for a 140-game schedule.
More than two-thirds (48 of 70) of the home games are on Thursday-Sundays or on holidays, including Memorial Day (May 27th), Father's Day (June 16th), and Labor Day (September 2nd). The Rawhide will also play a scheduled doubleheader on Thursty Thursday, May 9th against the High Desert Mavericks.
Already on pace to surpass their franchise single-season attendance record for a fourth consecutive season, the Rawhide are aiming for five next year.
"All things considered, this is the best schedule we've had in many years, with 20 games against Dodgers & Giants prospects, being home to open & close the season, plus so many games on weekends and holidays" said Rawhide President Tom Seidler. "We're already planning many exciting promotions and upgrades for the coming year, and while we still have a lot of life left in 2012, it's great for our fans to be able to see what they have to look forward to next season."
The Rawhide close out their 2012 regular season home schedule with 4 games this Friday-Monday against the Stockton Ports.
As a franchise on the continual rise thanks to a renovated ballpark and increasing attendance, the Rawhide are excited for the rest of 2012, and thrilled to plan for an even bigger 2013!
