Inland Empire 66ers News Release

Inland Empire was up 2-1 going into the bottom of the sixth but faced a six run deficit exiting it and the 66ers (60-69, 29-30) never recovered, falling to the Bakersfield Blaze (66-63, 25-34) Thursday night by a 10-4 final. Ricky Pacione did contribute his first RBI since returning from the DL in the defeat.

Inland Empire struck first for the first time in the series with a two run second highlighted by a double for 66ers designated hitter Ricky Pacione. It was Pacione's first RBI since returning from a nearly two month stay on the disabled list with a thumb sprain. Brennan Gowens followed up with an RBI ground out and the 66ers led 2-0.

The lead held up through five frames as starter Aaron Meade allowed just one run on four hits in the first five innings, but the sixth was a different story. Bakersfield rallied with three singles which were followed by two home runs before Meade was pulled without recording an out in the sixth. When the dust settled Inland Empire headed into the seventh down by six runs. Randal Grichuk tallied his 17th home run of the season leading off the 9th but the 66ers were already out of the game facing a seven run lead for the Blaze at the time. Inland Empire opens the season's final homestand on Friday against the High Desert Mavericks with Heroe's night from San Manuel Stadium. The game is set to start at 7:05, and the game can be heard on the home of 66ers baseball KCAA 1050 AM beginning with the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Pre-Game show at 6:55.
