LANCASTER, CA - Grant Hogue excited the The Hangar crowd with a straight steal of home and the JetHawks dominated the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes in a 10-0 victory to win three of four in the series on Thursday night.

Starter David Martinez (8-5) set the tone with solid pitching. Martinez tossed seven scoreless innings and pitched out of numerous jams. The right-hander allowed eight hits and allowed two walks while striking out six.

Lancaster started the scoring in the second inning. Erik Castro walked, moved to second on a ground ball and scored on Drew Muren's bloop single the fell in just inside the left field foul line.

In the third inning, Hogue started off with a bunt single and moved to third when Delino DeShields Jr. singled during a hit-and-run. DeShields proceeded to steal second base, his 93rd steal of the season, and Hogue scored when the ball glanced off second baseman Scott Wingo's glove for an error. DeShields came in to score on a Jiovanni Mier base hit. The final run of the inning came in when Telvin Nash scored on a Jonathan Meyer single to put the JetHawks up, 4-0.

Carlos Perez walked to start the fourth inning and moved to second base on a Hogue sacrifice bunt. Perez then showed off his excellent speed by scoring from second base on a DeShields fly ball to right field.

Perez made his presence felt in the sixth with a leadoff double. Hogue followed with a single to move Perez to third. Hogue advanced to second on a throw home. Mier drove in Perez with a ground ball and Hogue moved to third, setting up one of the most exciting plays of the season.

With Andrew Aplin at the plate and left-handed reliever Jordan Roberts coming set to deliver a pitch, Hogue took off from third and broke for home plate. Roberts threw home to catcher Pratt Maynard who lunged to apply a late tag on Hogue.

Aplin followed with a towering home run to right field, his second home run in as many days. The JetHawks led, 8-0.

They added two more in the seventh. Perez hit a double to drive in Muren and then scored on a Hogue single.

Hogue finished the night 3-for-3 with two runs and a RBI. Perez went 2-for-3 with two doubles and three runs scored. Every JetHawk recorded a hit in the game except for designated hitter Domingo Santana who started the game but was ejected in the second inning after arguing a checked swing that was called for a third strike.

With the win, the JetHawks (66-63) moved into second place in the South Division thanks to Lake Elsinore's loss at High Desert. The Storm (65-63) visit The Hangar for the final four home games of the season beginning Friday night. Blair Walters will start against Matt Branham. Friday is Salute to Professional Wrestling Night and the final fireworks show of the season. First pitch is at 7:00 pm.
