GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Burlington Bees scored a run on a wild pitch in the tenth inning to edge the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 1-0 Monday night on Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium.

Both starting pitchers were on their game. Rattler starter Nathan Adcock extended his scoreless inning streak to 17 with 6-2/3 run-free innings against the Bees. He matched his career high for strikeouts with nine and walked two. Burlington starter Alex Caldera also struck out nine batters as he pitched seven scoreless innings. But, neither starter was involved in the decision.

Wisconsin (14-19) had an opportunity to win the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. They loaded the bases against Burlington reliever Chris Chavez. But, Chavez got a groundout to end the threat.

Burlington (15-20) went to work against Rattler reliever Walter Suriel in the top of the tenth. Adrian Ortiz reached on a one-out single. A walk to David Lough put two on base. Then, Suriel struck out Mike Moustakas for out number two. However, Suriel walked Jason Taylor on a 3-2 pitch to load the bases.

Ryan Moorer relieved Suriel and threw a wild pitch on his first pitch in the game. Ortiz scored and the Bees had a 1-0 lead.

Israel Nunez singled with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning and was replaced by pinch runner Denny Almonte. Chavez got a strikeout for out number two. Then, Almonte tried to steal second on a 2-2 pitch to Maximo Mendez. Almonte was thrown out by Burlington catcher Ryan Eigsti to end the game. Eigsti threw out three Rattler would-be base stealers in the ball game.

Game two of the series is set for Tuesday night. Donnie Hume (4-0, 1.78) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Zach Peterson (1-2, 4.50) is set to start for the Bees. Game time on a Bang for Your Buck Night is 6:35pm.
