Rapid City's Danny Battochio Named Sher-Wood/Tps CHL Goaltender Of The Month

(Rapid City, SD) - On Thursday, the Central Hockey League announced that Rush netminder Danny Battochio has been named Sher-Wood/TPS Goaltender of the Month for the month of January. The honor is the third monthly award for Rapid City and marks the first ever Goaltender of the Month recognition for the Rush.
"Obviously I am very excited," said Battochio. "There are a lot of good goalies in this league and to be chosen truly humbles me. My goal is to try and keep the team in each game and give us a chance to win. I just want to go and do my job and help our team get as many wins as possible. To be recognized in this way, it's always a great honor."
In nine games played, Battochio finished the month of January with a 7-1-0 record, 2.38 goals against average and.922 save percentage. The Lively, Ontario native picked up four of his seven wins on the road and where he also notched a pair of one-goal outings.
"We're very proud as an organization that Danny is being recognized as Goaltender of the Month," said Head Coach Joe Ferras. "He's having a tremendous rookie campaign. Both Danny and Miguel are going to be heavily relied upon as we head into the last third of the season. Danny's work ethic and professionalism set him apart from any first year pro that I have ever coached."
Battochio is 18-4-1 on the season and has posted a 2.66 GAA and.915 sv%. Among the league's goaltending leaders, Battochio is tied for 2nd in wins, 5th in goals-against and 6th in save percentage. Battochio had a very impressive stretch where he won twelve straight decisions from November 25th through January 19th. The rookie was also a member of the 2010 CHL All-Star Team.

The Rapid City Rush Rushettes will be hosting their 2nd Annual Junior Rushettes Dance Camp. This season they are offering two separate dance camps; the first will be held Saturday, February 13th from 1 pm to 4 pm for girls ages 5 - 8 years old, and the second will be held Saturday, March 13th from 1 pm to 4 pm for 9 - 14 year olds. Each group will be invited to perform at center ice at that evening's Rush game. The cost for the camp is $55 and includes one FREE ticket to that night's Rush game, a camp tee-shirt, snack and 2010 Rushettes calendar.
