Rapid City's Danny Battochio Named Sher-Wood/TPS Central Hockey League Goaltender of the Month

(Tempe, Arizona) - The Central Hockey League announced today that Danny Battochio of the Rapid City Rush has been named the Sher-Wood/TPS Central Hockey League Goaltender of the Month for the month of January/2010. Battochio will receive a portable DVD player, courtesy of Sher-Wood/TPS, to recognize his accomplishment.

Battochio, 24, posted an impressive 7-1-0 record during the month of January allowing just 20 goals during his 504:56 minutes played. The rookie finished with a 2.38 goals against average and a.922 save percentage and also played in the 2010 CHL All-Star Game during the month. The Lively, Ontario native earned four of his seven wins on the road allowing just seven goals in those four wins. On the season, Battochio ranks among the league leaders with 18 wins (third in the CHL), a 2.66 goals against average (tied for fifth in the CHL) and a.915 save percentage.

Other players receiving consideration for the monthly award for January include Allen's Chris Whitley, Amarillo's Tuomas Lohtandar, Bossier-Shreveport's John DeCaro, Colorado's Mike Mole, Corpus Christi's Kevin Nastiuk, Laredo's Kevin Desfosses, Mississippi's Mark Sibbald, Odessa's Juha Toivonen and Joel Martin, Texas' Brett Jaeger and Wichita's Ian Keserich.
