
Bucks' Smith Earns Player Of The Month Honors

LAREDO, TX- The Central Hockey League announced Thursday that Laredo Bucks forward Darryl Smith has been named the Sherwood/TPS player of the month for January 2010.
The 22-year-old Smith, who was named player of the week January 25th, had 16 points (10-616) in 12 games in January and posted a plus-three rating leading the Bucks to a 7-4-1 mark during the month.
Smith, from Thorold, Ontario, had six multi-point games including four multi-goal games in January. On three occasions last month Smith posted three separate three-point games (all on the road).
Smith has scored 41 points (23-1841) in 38 games with the Bucks this season. His 23 goals are second in the CHL.
Smith scored eight points (6-28) in three games to earn player of the week honors on January 25th and had a plus-three rating leading the Bucks to a 2-1 record against the top two teams in the Northern Conference.
Smith is a two-time player of the week.
Smith, 5'11, 190 pounds, garnered Rookie of the Year honors last season when he put up 70 points (36-3470), including a CHL-leading 36 goals. Smith has scored 111 points (59-52111) in 98 career CHL games. Smith has been called up to the AHL twice so far in his career, as he played four games for Houston last season and one game for Manitoba this season.
