Bucks Stopped In Shootout 3-2

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League fell to the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 3-2 in a shootout Thursday night at the Laredo Entertainment Center. The Bucks pick up a point in the loss as they fall to 19-15-8 (46 points). Laredo is one point behind Texas for third place in the Southern Conference.

Tom Sawatske scored the game-winning goal in the seventh round of the shootout while Andy Franck stopped 50 of 52 shots he faced to lead the Bees to the win.

Eric Giosa tied the game at 2-2 with just 2:35 left in the third period to send the game to overtime. The Bucks outshot the Bees 52-30 but couldn't get the win.

The Killer Bees (19-18-6) jumped out in front of the Bucks when they scored on the power-play with 4:48 left in the first period. Daymen Rycroft tipped in Grant Goeckner-Zoellar's shot from the point to pick up his 15th goal of the season.

Each team put up 11 shots on net in the first period.

The Bucks tied the game at 1-1 when they struck on the power-play with 3:50 left in the second period. Jarred Mohr scored his seventh goal of the season when he rifled in a slap shot in from the point. Mohr has knocked in a power-play goal in consecutive games for the Bucks.

Laredo outshot Rio in the second period 27-4.

Kevin Desfosses set aside 27 of 29 shots to suffer the shootout loss for Laredo as they fall to 5-5 in shootouts this season.

Each of the four meetings at the LEC between the Bucks and Bees have gone to a shootout with each team winning twice.

Former team captain Serge Dube returned to the Bucks line-up Thursday for the first-time since last season's playoffs. Dube retired in October after seven seasons in the Gateway City.

The Bucks travel to Rio Grande Valley Friday night to finish the home and home series with the Bees. Game time is 7:35pm.

**CAR SHOW SATURDAY AFTERNOON**

Prior to Saturday's (Feb 6th) game starting at 9am there will be a car show outside the LEC. Registration starts at 9am and ALL Car Show registrants will receive two tickets to Saturday's game. Certain car show winners will get to drive their vehicles onto the ice during the intermissions for a "victory lap".

There will also be a "best burger" tailgate cook-off Saturday starting at 4pm outside the LEC.
