Colorado Eagles News Release
LOVELAND, CO. - The Rapid City Rush scored three goals in the final 7:54 of regulation to force overtime, where they would eventually knock off the Colorado Eagles by a final score of 4-3. Eagles forward Drayson Bowman notched a pair of goals in the loss, while Michael Joly scored a goal for the eighth consecutive game to tie Greg Pankewicz for the longest goal scoring streak in Colorado Eagles history.
After a scoreless first period, the Eagles would generate the game's first goal when Matt Register forced a turnover in the Rapid City zone, setting up Bowman to snap home his fourth goal of the season and give Colorado a 1-0 lead with 3:34 to play in the second period.
The Eagles would stretch their lead early in the third period, as Bowman would stuff a rebound in the slot into the back of the net on a shorthanded rush to give Colorado the 2-0 advantage just 2:44 into the final frame. The shorthanded tally was the Eagles fifth of the season and now ties Colorado with the Tulsa Oilers for the league lead in that category.
Later in the third period, Joly would bash home a feed from behind the net for his league-leading 11th goal of the season, putting Colorado up 3-0 with 12:51 left to play in regulation.
The tide would quickly turn, as Rush forward Evan Janssen pushed a rebound in the crease into the back of the net to slice the Eagles lead to 3-1 at the 12:06 mark of the third period. Just over two minutes later, the deficit was trimmed to just one when forward Pavel Jenys swept another rebound in the crease past Colorado goalie Lukas Hafner.
The Rush would level the score with just 3:06 remaining in regulation when Janssen again tracked down a loose puck in the blue paint and shoved it into the cage to tie the game at 3-3, eventually forcing a sudden-death overtime.
Less than two minutes into the extra session, Rapid City defenseman Dylan Labbe would carry the puck into the slot and snap a wrist shot past Hafner to complete the comeback and give the Rush the 4-3 victory.
Colorado finished the night going 0-for-6 on the power play, while Rapid City was held 0-for-4 on the man-advantage.
The Eagles two-game series against the Rush concludes on Saturday, November 11th at 7:05pm when Colorado travels to face Rapid City at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Season tickets for the 2017-18 season are on-sale now and can be reserved with a $100 deposit per seat by calling the Eagles ticket office at 970-686-SHOT (7468).
