Norfolk Admirals News Release
Norfolk, VA.- The Admirals matched the Beast with a pair of goals each in the third period Friday night, but were unable to climb out of a two-goal hole as Norfolk fell to Brampton 4-2 on Friday night.
An assist in the third period extended Brady Vail's point streak to six-games, a career high. The forward ended with a pair of assists. Darik Angeli has now scored in each of his first two games as an Admiral.
Brampton got the scoring started just under five minutes through the second period. Stefan Fournier took a pass directly behind the net before executing a wrap-around shot that beat Ty Reichenbach to the far post, giving the Beast a 1-0 lead. Less than a minute later Alex Foster doubled the Brampton lead. Stepping just over the blue line, Foster snapped a shot that deflected past Reichenbach. The Foster goal ended the Norfolk netminder's night, as he was replaced by Jamie Murray. Reichenbach made 11 saves on 13 shots in 25:16 of game time.
Trailing 2-0 when the third period started the Admirals cut the Beast lead to one less than a minute into the period. Brady Vail took a pass from Darik Angeli and cut into the zone on the right-wing side. Vail walked in towards the net before feeding a waiting Angeli who quickly whipped a shot into the back of the net. About seven minutes later the Beast pushed the lead back to two. In the high slot Chris Leveille picked up a bouncing puck and slipped the puck past Murray, giving Brampton a 3-1 lead. The Beast would extend the lead again just over halfway through the period. Scott Jacklin tipped a Jordan Henry slap shot past Murray, giving the Beast a 4-1 lead.
As time wound down in the period the Beast would present the Admirals with an opportunity to get back in the game. With a full two-minutes of five-on-three power play time the Admirals power play found the back of the net. Angelo Miceli finessed a back-door pass to the tape of Tommy Schutt. The rookie forward quickly put the puck past Chris Driedger to cut the lead to 4-2. Norfolk pulled the goaltender with just over a minute remaining but was unable to cut into the lead again as the Beast dropped the Admirals 4-2.
Jamie Murray made 23 saves on 25 shots, taking the loss. Norfolk finished the night one-for-six on the man-advantage. Brampton was held scoreless on one attempt. Brampton outshot the Admirals 38-30 in the victory.
