Worcester, MA - The Worcester Railers HC (5-4-1-0, 11pts) closed out a five game homestand after a 6-3 loss to the visiting Manchester Monarchs (7-3-1-1, 16pts) in front 4,704 fans at the DCU Center on Saturday evening. The two teams tangle again on Sunday at 3pm at the SNHU Arena in Manchester, NH.

Barry Almeida, Kellen Jones, and Kyle McKenzie scored for Worcester but Kevin Morris scored three for Manchester. Patrick McNally recorded a season high 10 shots on goal as the Railers ended 2-3-0-0 on their five game homestand.

A slew of penalties slowed down the first period as the Monarchs took a 2-0 edge into the first intermission with a pair of power play goals. Kevin Morris (4th) tapped home a centering feed at 9:59 followed up by Tony Cameranesi at 11:47 past goaltender Mitch Gillam. Shots were 15-10 Worcester through 20 minutes of play.

Manchester went ahead 4-0 as Kevin Morris (5th) finished off a 2-on-0 at 3:17 and Michael Doherty (3rd) kicked in a puck at 6:31 to put Worcester in trouble. The Railers would net the next two as Barry Almeida (3rd) first home a power play goal at 16:23 and Kellen Jones (3rd) scored the first shorthanded goal in Railers history with a terrific individual effort at 17:12. But Kevin Morris (6th) recorded a hat trick goal at 18:54 finishing off a 2-on-1 rush with another power play goal. The Railers trailed 5-2 after 40 minutes of play despite outshooting Manchester 28-20.

Kyle McKenzie (1st) scored his first professional goal at 2:07 of the third period as his shot from the point bounced through a sea of skates and past netminder Charles Williams to make it 5-3 Monarchs. Manchester was able to hold off a late charge and Monarchs captain Jordan LaVllee-Smotherman (6th) found an empty net at 19:09 to seal a 6-3 Manchester road victory.

Eamon McAdam served as the backup goalie for the Railers....Worcester went 1-for-5 on the power play while Manchester went 3-for-5....Matt Lane, TJ Syner, Yanick Turcotte, Ryan Lannon, and Connor Doherty (inj) did not dress for Worcester...Boston Bruins Legends Bobby Orr and Derek Sanderson drop the ceremonial first puck with First Sargant Adam Bryant...Worcester had allowed only three power play goals in the first nine games before allowing three power play goals tonigh Patrick McNally had a season high 10 shots on goal and added an assist .Woody Hudson was ejected early in the third period for a major penalty for boarding.

The Railers head to Manchester on Sunday for a 3pm rematch vs. the Monarchs at the SNHU Arena.

On Tuesday, November 14, the Railers host the Brampton Beast at 10:05am for the city's first ever pro hockey School Day Game . Over 4,000 students from the Worcester Public School System is expected to attend. The game is also open to the general public and Railers HC members. The game will be televised live on Charter TV3 with a replay at 7pm.
