November 13, 2017 - ECHL (ECHL)
Colorado Eagles News Release
RAPID CITY, SD. - Rapid City forward Kyle Dutra scored a goal with just 21 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game, while fellow forward Jimmy DeVito nabbed the game-winner in OT to give the Rush a 4-3 victory over the Colorado Eagles on Saturday.
The two teams skated to a scoreless first period that saw the Eagles kill off a pair of Rush power plays, while Rapid City outshot Colorado 13-4 in the opening frame.
The scoring would begin in the second period when Eagles forward Joey Ratelle snagged a rebound on top of the crease and bashed it into the net to give Colorado a 1-0 edge at the 10:56 mark of the period.
Less than a minute later, a net-mouth scramble in the Eagles zone led to Rush forward Pavel Jenys poking the puck out of the crease and into the cage to knot the game at 1-1.
Heading into the third period, Colorado would pour on the shots, outshouting the Rush 8-2 in the final frame. The Eagles would then regain the lead when forward Ben Storm stepped into a one-timer from the top of the left circle with 1:06 remaining in regulation to put Colorado on top 2-1.
Rapid City would pull goaltender Adam Vay in favor of the extra attacker and the move would pay off, as Dutra slipped a puck past Eagles goalie Sam Brittain to tie the game at 2-2 with only 21 seconds left in the third period.
Heading into sudden death overtime, DeVito would skate down the left wing and snap a wrister from the top of the circle that would light the lamp and give Rapid City the 3-2 victory with 1:14 remaining in the extra session.
Colorado finished the night going 0-for-4 on the power play, while Rapid City was held of the scoreboard on each of their three opportunities on the man-advantage. Brittain finished the night stopping 22 of the 25 shots he faced in the contest, as Vay collected the win by stopping 22 of the 24 shots thrown his way.
The Eagles continue their three-game raod trip with a game against the Utah Grizzlies on Friday, November 17th at 7:05pm at the Maverik Center in West Valley City, Utah.
Season tickets for the 2017-18 season are on-sale now and can be reserved with a $100 deposit per seat by calling the Eagles ticket office at 970-686-SHOT (7468).
