Rangers Purchase Contract of RHP Spencer Patton

ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Texas Rangers have purchased the contract of RHP Spencer Patton from the Round Rock Express and optioned RHP Roman Mendez to Round Rock the club announced Monday.

Patton, 27, has made eight relief appearances with Round Rock this season. He's allowed just eight hits and two runs (one earned) in 9.1 innings (0.96 ERA). Patton's longest outing came on April 14 against Colorado Springs when he threw 2.0 scoreless innings. The right-hander has held opponents to a .216 batting average and allowed just four walks while striking out 14. He made his major league debut with Texas on September 4, 2014.

Mendez, 24, made the Rangers Opening Day roster and went 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA (7er/11.2ip) in 12 relief appearances for Texas. He split the 2014 season between Round Rock and Arlington, posting a 0-1 record with a 4.02 ERA (14er/31.1ip) in 25 games with the Express.

The Express start an eight-game road trip in Omaha tonight as they face the Storm Chasers (Kansas City Royals affiliate) for four games. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
