ROUND ROCK, Texas - Ronny Cedeno of the Sacramento River Cats and Noah Syndergaard of the Las Vegas 51s were awarded the Pacific Coast League's Player and Pitcher of the Week for the period of April 27-May 3, the league office announced today.

Ronny Cedeno hit safely in all five games he played this week, accumulating a .444 batting average and a PCL-high six extra-base hits. The shortstop also owned the top slugging percentage (1.000) and OPS (1.545) in the circuit, while his six runs scored were tied for the second-most. Cedeno collected five RBIs, four doubles, and three multi-hit games during the week. His first multi-hit game occurred Monday against Tacoma, highlighted by a game-tying home run in the bottom of the eighth, as the River Cats went on to defeat the Rainiers in extra-innings. Cedeno also scored a season-high three runs that night. The 32-year-old is currently on an eight-game hit streak and is batting .291 for the year.

The 2015 season marks his 16th year in professional baseball, having originally been signed by the Chicago Cubs as an international free agent in 1999 out of Carabobo, Venezuela. He has played portions of ten seasons in the major leagues, most recently with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2014. Cedeno joined the San Francisco Giants' organization for the first time on February 24, 2015, signing as a free agent. This is the second Player of the Week award he has received from the PCL in his career, with the other coming in 2007 as a member of the Iowa Cubs.

Noah Syndergaard tied for the league-lead with two wins and a 0.00 ERA during the week, while also recording a PCL-best 19 strikeouts. The right-handed pitcher tossed his first career complete-game shutout Monday in a seven-inning win vs. Albuquerque. Only two Isotopes reached base during his outing, both by way of singles. Syndergaard compiled nine strikeouts and retired 18 consecutive batters between the first and seventh inning. In his following start against Reno, he held the Aces to four hits and two walks to help Las Vegas claim a 3-0 victory. The 22-year-old also tallied ten strikeouts to match his career-high. Syndergaard's 1.66 ERA this season is the third-best in the PCL, while his 26 strikeouts rank fourth.

The New York Mets' No. 1 prospect is in his third season with the organization, after being acquired in a trade from the Toronto Blue Jays on Dec. 17, 2012. He was a supplemental first round draft selection (38th overall) by the Blue Jays in 2010 out of Legacy High School in Mansfield, Texas. The Pitcher of the Week accolade is the second of his career, with the previous coming in 2013 as a member of the Binghamton Mets in the Eastern League.
