San Antonio Rampage News Release

OKLAHOMA CITY (Nov. 11, 2014) - The San Antonio Rampage (7-6-0-0) beat the Oklahoma City Barons (5-3-2-1) 3-2 in a shootout on Tuesday morning at the Cox Convention Center, the first shootout for both teams this season.

Steven Kampfer and Connor Brickley scored for the Rampage in regulation while Dan Ellis, starting in net for the third straight game, made 26 saves on 28 shots.

Like they did in Sunday's game, the Rampage scored early, as Steven Kampfer skated in on a break and put the puck past Richard Bachman to give San Antonio the first lead of the game. Scored just 30 seconds into the game, the goal marks the fastest goal to start a game for the Silver and Black this season.

The Barons answered midway through the frame when Brandon Davidson sent a pass up the ice for Will Acton, who wristed it past Ellis to knot the game at one. The Rampage took back the lead with just under four minutes left in the first when Steven Hodges sent a beautiful cross-crease pass to Connor Brickley for a goal. The assist was the first professional point for Hodges and fourth goal of the season for Brickley.

Midway through the second period, Luke Gazdic beat Ellis for the equalizer, scoring from the high slot to tie the game at two. After a scoreless third period, the Rampage and the Barons went to overtime, the second time this season San Antonio has needed extra time to determine a winner, both of which have come against Oklahoma City. San Antonio killed a penalty late in the extra stanza and outshot the Barons 6-5, but neither team found the back of the net, sending the game to the first shootout of the season for both teams.

Rocco Grimaldi shot first in the skills competition and scored, which ultimately stood as the game winner. Dan Ellis, who finished with 26 saves on 28 shots in the game, stopped three Oklahoma City shooters to preserve the win. The Rampage improve to 4-0-0-0 against the Barons so far this season with eight games left in the series.
