November 11, 2014 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Oklahoma City Barons News Release
Rocco Grimaldi scored in a shootout to lift the San Antonio Rampage past the Oklahoma City Barons 3-2 Tuesday at the Cox Convention Center.
In the three-round shootout, Grimaldi was the only player to net a goal, beating Oklahoma City netminder Richard Bachman with a backhander in the first round.
For the second straight game, San Antonio got on the board with their first shot of the game as Steven Kampfer scored from the left side of the Barons net off a Bobby Butler pass from the high slot 30-seconds into play.
Oklahoma City knotted the score at 13:01 of the first when Will Acton scored on a breakaway chance assisted by Brandon Davidson, flipping a wrist shot past San Antonio goalie Dan Ellis.
At 16:10 of the first, the Rampage regained the lead when Steven Hodges fed Connor Brickley on a 2-on-1 rush, and Brickley beat Bachman on the glove side for a 2-1 San Antonio advantage.
The Barons tied the game once again when Luke Gadzic took a Davidson pass off a faceoff from just outside the Rampage zone and chopped a shot from the San Antonio slot that floated under the glove of Ellis at 9:39 of the second period.
After a scoreless third period and overtime, Grimaldi's score in the shootout gave San Antonio their second straight win against Oklahoma City and fourth overall in four meetings against the Barons this season.
The Barons are back in action Friday, Nov. 14, when they travel to Des Moines, Iowa to take on the Wild in a 7 p.m. start.
