
SU Basketball Star Derrick Coleman Returns to Carrier Dome for Toyota Frozen Dome Classic

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Former Syracuse University men's basketball star Derrick Coleman will return to the Carrier Dome as a special guest when the Syracuse Crunch host the Utica Comets at the Toyota Frozen Dome Classic on Saturday, Nov. 22.
The SU basketball standout will sign autographs in the Carrier Dome back-ice area, as well as make an appearance at the Crowne Plaza Syracuse pregame party. The pregame party, which is open to the public from 3 to 6 p.m., will lead up to the Toyota Frozen Dome Classic's main event, Crunch vs. Comets at 7 p.m.
The Crowne Plaza pregame event will include $4 Molson Canadian and Miller Lite pitchers paired with bowls of chili, hot dogs and hot chocolate. The Crowne Plaza Syracuse will feature a dome hockey table in the lobby and an ice bar outside.
Coleman was star on the Syracuse University Men's Basketball team from 1986-1990. A consensus first-team All-American and Big East Player of the Year in 1998-1990, Coleman averaged a double-double during his tenure at Syracuse, averaging 15.0 points, 10.7 rebounds and 2.2 blocks. His number, 44, was retired by Syracuse University in 2006.
Coleman was selected first overall in the 1990 NBA Draft by the New Jersey Nets and went on to be named NBA Rooke of the Year and to the NBA All-Rookie First Team. During his 15-year career Coleman was twice named to the All-NBA Third Team and was an 1994 NBA All-Star. Coleman was also part of the 1994 USA Basketball Team that defeated Russia to capture the gold medal in the FIBA World Championship. Coleman appeared in 781 career NBA games with the New Jersey Nets, Philadelphia 76ers, Charlotte Hornets and Detroit Pistons. He finished his professional career averaging 16.5 points, 10.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game.
Tickets to the Toyota Frozen Dome Classic are on sale now and range in price from $20 to $50. Discount ticket prices are available for groups of 15 or more people.
