
Sharks Explode for Four Third Period Goals in 4-2 Win at Springfield

Springfield, MA. - The Worcester Sharks (8-3-1-0, 17pts) scored four goals in the third period to defeat the Springfield Falcons (6-7-1-0, 13pts) by the score of 4-2 in front of 2, 009 fans at the Mass Mutual Center on Tuesday afternoon.
Matt Tennyson, Evan Trupp, Bryan Lerg, and Jeremy Langlois all scored in the third period for Worcester while JP Anderson made 30 saves in net for his first AHL victory. Chris Tierney added two assists while the first place Sharks have won three straight games headed into this weekend's action at the DCU Center on Friday and Saturday.
Neither team scored in a fast paced first period as Worcester outshot Springfield 11-10. JP Anderson made 10 saves for the Sharks including five saves on two power play chances against. Oscar Dansk kept Worcester at bay with 11 first period saves as the two teams headed to the first intermission scoreless.
The Falcons controlled the second period outshooting Worcester 15-3 and scored the period's only goal at 9:04. Sean Collins (3rd) one timed a cross the crease pass past Anderson to give Springfield a 1-0 advantage. JP Anderson was super in the second period as he added 14 more saves in the middle frame.
Worcester exploded for four goals in the third period for another come from behind victory. Matt Tennyson (2nd) tied the score at 51 seconds with a quick shot from the right wall that broke off the Flacons netminder and just inched past the goal line to begin the onslaught. Evan Trupp (2nd) gave the Sharks a 2-1 lead with a bullet from the left circle at 2:21 to put Worcester ahead for good. Former Falcon Bryan Lerg (1st) scored the eventual game winner with a nice back hander from in tight at 6:59 to put the Sharks ahead 3-1. Springfield would cut the lead to 3-2 with a power play goal by Ryan Craig (7th) at 11:12 with a deflection from in front of the Sharks net. Jeremy Langlois (2nd) fired the puck into an empty net at 19:19 to seal the victory for the Sharks in a 4-2 road win.
The Sharks overall record improves to 8-3-1-0, 17pts, and 3-1-0-0, 6pts on the road this season

Petter Emanuelsson (inj), Gus Young, and Jimmy Bonneau did not dress for Worcester...Travis Oleksuk returned to the lineup after missing six games due to an injury and picked up an assist... rookie Chris Tierney added two assists and now has five points in two games (1-4-5).... Worcester has outscored their opponents 21-8 in the third period this season and picked up their AHL leading 3rd win of the season when trailing after 40 minutes.
