San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO (Feb. 25, 2014) - The San Antonio Rampage will honor the men and women who have served and continue to serve our country with their 11th annual Military Appreciation Night, presented by Champion AC, on Saturday, March 1. The team will wear specially designed camouflage jerseys when they take on the Texas Stars at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center.

The Rampage are offering military service members, including veterans, a special 50 percent discount on tickets purchased online at sarampage.com and on game day from the AT&T Center Box Office when they show a valid Military ID.

The team's military-themed jerseys will be auctioned off following the game with proceeds benefiting Operation Comfort and the Rampage Sled Hockey Team. The Rampage have raised more than $200,000 to benefit San Antonio's military community in the past 10 years.

The Rampage Sled Hockey Team, which was formed in 2007, is made up of wounded military service members and features three players who will represent the United States in the 2014 Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. Josh Sweeney is serving as an alternate captain for the U.S. Team, and goalie Jen Lee and forward Rico Roman will also compete in Sochi. All three contributed to Team USA's second-place finish at the 2013 World Sledge Hockey Challenge in December. Team USA will play its first contest of the Paralympic Winter Games on March 8 against Italy.

The Rampage Sled Hockey Team is run by Operation Comfort, a nonprofit organization that works with wounded service members who are recovering at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in San Antonio, Texas.

Prior to Military Appreciation Night, Rampage players Michael Caruso and Jon Matsumoto will assist students at Stevens High School in putting together care packages for friends and family members currently serving overseas. The event, which will take place on Friday, Feb. 28, is part of Silver and Black Give Back's Team Up Challenge, a youth-led service-learning program that encourages students to apply their education to the real world and enhance their local communities.

Tickets for Military Appreciation Night, and all remaining Rampage home games, start at $10 and can be purchased at the AT&T Center Southeast Box Office, online at sarampage.com or by calling a Rampage representative at 210.444.5554.
