Barons Celebrating Hockey Weekend Across America

Oklahoma City - The Oklahoma City Barons, in conjunction with USA Hockey are encouraging everyone to wear the jersey of their favorite hockey team to work Friday, February 28 as part of Hockey Weekend Across America.

The festivities surrounding the three-day Hockey Weekend Across America include Wear Your Jersey to Work Day February 28, a Try Hockey for Free day at the Cox Convention Center on March 1 and Hockey Heroes Day March 2. All three days provide additional opportunities for fans to showcase their hockey spirit.

The first event of Hockey Weekend Across America begins with fans wearing the jersey of their favorite team to their office or workplace on Friday, February 28. Take a picture of yourself wearing the jersey of your favorite team (preferably the Barons), upload that picture to the Barons Facebook page and tag the Oklahoma City Barons account. Everyone who uploads a picture will be entered for the chance to ride the Zamboni at an upcoming Barons game. Pictures submitted in poor taste will not be considered.

Fans will also have the chance to win a complete set of hockey gear from Reebok by visiting the USA Hockey website, usahockey.com.

Saturday, March 1, the Barons are hosting their own Try Hockey for Free Day on the ice at the Cox Convention Center from 1 - 3 p.m. At that event, youth ages 4 - 9 have the chance to try hockey for free. Registration for the event is available only online and can be found on the Barons website.

The Barons are at home for a trio of games this weekend, beginning Friday and Saturday against Rockford at 7 p.m. The weekend concludes Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. with a game against the San Antonio Rampage. All three games are played at the Cox Convention Center and can be heard on the Barons flagship station, 96.1 KXY.
