Carl Klingberg's two goals were all the IceCaps would need as St.
John's defeated Worcester 5-1 Friday night at the DCU Center in Worcester, MA. Zach Redmond and Jordan Hill each had a pair of assists while Michael Hutchinson picked up the victory with 33 saves.
Sat., Feb. 22 STJ 3 at WOR 1
Michael Hutchinson stopped a club record 49 shots as the St. John's IceCaps defeated the Worcester Sharks 3-1 Saturday at the DCU Center to complete the two-game sweep. John Albert scored his league leading fifth shorthanded goal. Kyle MacKinnon notched a goal and two assists while Patrice Cormier's second period tally stood as the game-winner.
Sun., Feb. 23 STJ 6 at POR 5
John Albert's shorthanded tally keyed a four-goal third period as the IceCaps rallied for a 6-5 win over the Portland Pirates Sunday at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee. Down 3-1 heading into the final frame, the IceCaps burst out with five goals en route to their fourth straight win to finish their six-game road trip with a 4-1-0-1 record.
Albert AHL's Best Last Week: F John Albert was named CCM/AHL Player of the Week for his performance last week. The third-year pro scored five times (including three shorthanded and one game-winner) to lead the IceCaps to a perfect 4-0 record.
FanFest this Sunday: The IceCaps are hosting their second annual FanFest this Sunday, Mar. 2, from 1-4 p.m. at Mile One Centre. Fans can meet their favourite players, win authentic NHL and AHL items at the raffle, and play fun game s and activities. Cost is $5 per person, $10 per family of four, and free for season ticket holders (and up to three guests).
IceCaps, Purolator to Shut Out Hunger: The IceCaps and Purolator are once again teaming to Shut Out Hunger. Fans are asked to bring a non- perishable food item to Saturday's game vs. Bridgeport to help support the Community Food Sharing Association. Participants will be entered to win a replica IceCaps jersey. For each goal the IceCaps score, an additional 100 pounds of food will be donated.
