March 22, 2015 - American Hockey League (AHL)
San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO (March 22, 2015) - Defenseman Dylan Olsen scored the overtime winner in his 2014-15 Rampage debut to lead San Antonio (39-20-5-1) past the Hamilton Bulldogs (30-25-10-0) 3-2 in front of 5,985 at the AT&T Center on Sunday. With their fifth consecutive win, the Rampage now hold sole possession of first place in the West Division and trail the Western Conference-leading Utica Comets by just one point.
Dany Heatley and Connor Brickley each finished with a goal and an assist while Michael Houser made 25 saves on 27 shots.
The Bulldogs struck first, getting a goal from Daniel Carr just as Hamilton's first power play expired early in the first period. San Antonio evened the score before the end of the frame when Brickley tipped in Heatley's slapshot from the point, sending the teams into the first intermission locked at one.
Gabriel Dumont scored a shorthanded goal near the midway point of the second stanza to give Hamilton a 2-1 lead, but the Rampage answered with a power-play marker from Heatley, who punched in a rebound off a Brickley shot for his sixth tally of the season and fourth with San Antonio.
After a scoreless third period, the teams headed to overtime, the 19th time this season the Rampage have needed extra time to decide a game. At the 6:11 mark of the extra period, Olsen lit the lamp for his first point of the season, sealing a 3-2 overtime victory for the Rampage.
KEY STAT
With his 21st goal of the season, Brickley now ranks second among AHL rookies in goals.
The Silver and Black are now just four wins away from setting a new franchise record for wins in a season. San Antonio won 42 games during the 2007-08 season.
LINEUP NOTES
Logan Shaw drew back into the lineup, replacing Mark Mancari, who was a healthy scratch, on the first line alongside Brett Olson and Corban Knight. The rest of San Antonio's line combinations remained identical to Saturday night's lineup.
Olsen made his 2014-15 debut with the Rampage, making his first start since a Jan. 27 game with the Florida Panthers against Detroit.
Houser started in net, the fourth time in his career he's made every start of a three-in-three.
UP NEXT
The Rampage head to Milwaukee for a tilt with the Admirals on Wednesday, March 25 before headed to Iowa for a two game series at the end of the week. San Antonio's next home game will be April 2 against the Adirondack Flames.
