OKC Drops Fourth Straight, 4-1 to Chicago

March 22, 2015 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Oklahoma City Barons News Release

Ty Rattie scored a goal and had an assist for the Chicago Wolves, who defeated the Oklahoma City Barons 4-1 Sunday at the Cox Convention Center, giving the Barons their fourth consecutive loss.

Playing with just 15 of the standard 18 skaters, the Barons went down another man early in the game, losing forward Connor Jones to an undisclosed injury. The loss of Jones left Oklahoma City with eight of the customary 12 forwards, requiring defenseman Brad Hunt to fill in at center during the third period.

With the loss and a win Sunday by the San Antonio Rampage, the Barons fell to second place in the AHL's West Division, two standings points behind the Rampage's 84.

Oklahoma City took a 1-0 lead on the power play at 10:30 of the first period, when Jason Williams fired a shot from the top of the left circle that skidded through a Matt Ford screen and through the pads of Chicago goalie Matt Climie.

Chicago tied the game at one goal apiece after an errant Barons pass in their own zone left the puck loose in the slot, where Rattie wristed a shot over the glove of Oklahoma City net minder Laurent Brossoit, netting his second goal against the Barons in as many days.

With six seconds left in the first period, Chicago grabbed a 2-1 lead when Shane Harper rebounded a Yannick Veilleux shot in the right circle and fired a shot past a diving Brossoit.

The Wolves increased their lead to 3-1 at 16:11 of the second period when Jacob Doty directed the puck off a faceoff in the Barons zone to Colton Parayko, who fired a shot from the point that sailed past Brossoit.

A minute, forty seconds into the third period, Chris Welsh extended Chicago's advantage to 4-1, grabbing a pass from Rattie in the slot and backhanding a shot around Brossoit.

Sunday's loss marked the first time this season the Barons have dropped four consecutive games.

The Barons travel to Toronto, ON next, where they take on the Marlies in a 10 a.m. CST start Wednesday, March 25, at Ricoh Coliseum.
