IceCaps Rally to Beat Bruins

St. John's IceCaps News Release


A three-goal, third period propelled the St. John's IceCaps to a 3-2 victory over the Providence Bruins Sunday afternoon at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, R.I.

Patrice Cormier, Brenden Kichton and Julien Brouilette -with the game-winner- scored for St. John's, who trailed by two entering the final frame. Blair Riley had two assists in the win.

After a scoreless first period, the Bruins struck at the five-minute mark of the second as Corey Kane connected on a partial wrap-around to beat Connor Hellebuyck. Providence went up 2-0 on a Colin Stuart deflection at 16:59.

Cormier started the rally at 5:20 of the third went he fired a loose puck in the slot past Bruins netminder Malcolm Subban. Nicholas Blanchard and Riley collected assists. Kichton squared the game as he danced along the blueline before his wrist shot dented the twine at 8:04. Riley had the lone helper. Brouillette won the game on a seeing-eye wrist shot from the blueline at 11:04. Ben Walker and Austen Brassard were awarded assists.
