Rampage Receive Spiller and Jones After Emergency Recalls

SAN ANTONIO (Apr. 3, 2006) - The San Antonio Rampage today announced that their parent club, the Phoenix Coyotes, reassigned defensemen Matthew Spiller and Matt Jones to the American Hockey League (AHL) club late yesterday following emergency recalls last week.

In eight games with the Coyotes this season, the 23-year-old Spiller has collected one assist and 13 penalty minutes (PIM). The 6-foot-5, 233-pound native of Daysland, Alberta was last called up from San Antonio on Tuesday and recorded his first NHL point that evening with an assist in the Coyotes' 5-3 win versus Nashville. Spiller has registered 2-7-9 and 143 PIM in 62 games with San Antonio this season.

Spiller was the Coyotes' second choice (2nd round, 31st overall) in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

Jones, 22, has recorded two assists and 14 PIM in 16 games with the Coyotes this season. Jones was last recalled from San Antonio on Thursday and skated 15:56 in the Coyotes' 5-2 win over San Jose that evening. The 6-foot, 215-pound rookie blueliner has registered 1-10-11 and 44 PIM in 52 games with the Rampage and was named to the PlanetUSA roster for the 2006 AHL All-Star Classic in January, but was unable to participate due to an injury.

The native of Downers Grove, Ill., was drafted by the Coyotes (3rd round, 80th overall) in the 2002 Entry Draft.
