
Eriksson named AHL Rookie of the Month

DES MOINES, IA - The Iowa Stars received word today from the American Hockey League (AHL) that Left Wing Loui Eriksson has been named the RBK Hockey AHL Rookie of the Month for the month of March.
Drafted by the Dallas Stars with their first choice, 33rd overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Eriksson recorded six goals, 11 assists and was an impressive âplus 15' rating in 14 games for Iowa during the month of March: 14(6/11/17)+15. The Swedish-born forward has registered at least one point in 11 of those 14 games, including multiple points in five of those games: 5(4/7/11). The 6-1, 183-pounder had two four-game point-streaks in March: 4(2/3/5) and 4(2/5/7). He posted the game-winning goal on March 26th against San Antonio. In all, the 20-year old factored into five game-tying goals and four game-winning goals.
He is currently in the midst of a six-game points-streak where he has four goals and five assists: 6(4/5/9) and has points in nine of his last 10 games. He has six goals and eight assists in those nine games: 9(6/8/14). Eriksson leads the Iowa Stars with 25 goals and is third overall with 51 points.
"Loui has steadily progressed throughout the season and has adjusted nicely to the North American style of hockey", commented Iowa Stars Director of Hockey Operations Scott White. "He's been a force as of late and is currently playing with the confidence needed to succeed".
In recognition of his achievement, Eriksson will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Stars home game.
