WEEK IN REVIEW

Wednesday, March 29: Phantoms 5, Norfolk 0: Rookie goaltender Martin Houle made a career-high 39 saves and recorded his second career shutout in a 5-0 win over the Norfolk Admirals. Pat Kavanagh scored a goal and added a pair of assists, while Ryan Ready, Ben Eager and Tony Voce also contributed with goals of their own. The Admirals out shot the Phantoms 39-26 for the night, with Houle facing 23 of the 39 shots in the second period alone.

Friday, March 31: Phantoms 4, Bridgeport 2: Brent Kelly scored two goals, added an assist, and was +4 in a 4-2 win over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at the Wachovia Spectrum. Ben Eager also had a three-point night with a goal and two assists, while Alexandre Picard was also +4 on the night. Martin Houle took the win with 24 saves on 26 shots.

Saturday, April 1: Phantoms 6, Hershey 2: Tony Voce extended his point-scoring streak with three assists in Philadelphia's 6-2 win at Hershey. Randy Jones scored his first goal of the season and was +3 on the night, while Jim Campbell, Stefan Ruzicka, Riley Cote, Matt Ellison, and Alexandre Picard also found the back of the net. Martin Houle made 31 saves in the win.

Sunday, April 2: Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 2, Phantoms 1: The Phantoms winning streak came to a halt at five games with a 2-1 loss to the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins at the Wachovia Spectrum. Tony Voce saw his scoring streak extend to ten games when he assisted on a goal by Jim Campbell. The Phantoms outshot the Penguins 13-1 in the third period, but couldn't get the puck past goaltender Andy Chiodo.

UPCOMING OPPONENTS

Wednesday, April 5: Phantoms at Norfolk, Norfolk Scope, 7:15 and Sunday, April 9: Phantoms vs. Norfolk, Wachovia Spectrum, 5:05 - The Phantoms will travel to Norfolk for a mid-week contest this Wednesday and will host the Admirals at the Wachovia Spectrum on Sunday. The Admirals became the third team in the East Division to clinch a spot in the Calder Cup Playoffs when they beat the Hartford Wolf Pack 3-2 on Sunday.

Friday, April 7: Phantoms vs. Hershey, Wachovia Spectrum, 7:05 - After defeating the Bears at the GIANT Center last Saturday, the Phantoms will play host to Hershey on Hall of Fame night this Friday at the Wachovia Spectrum. The Bears have already clinched a playoff spot with a record of 42-20-4-10 for 98 points.

Saturday, April 8: Phantoms at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Wachovia Arena, 7:05 -The Phantoms will travel to the Wachovia Arena on Saturday to meet the Baby Pens. The Penguins sit in first place in the East Division with a record of 47-17-5-5 for 104 points.

PHANTOMS TO HONOR LITTLE ON FRIDAY NIGHT

Former Phantoms goaltender Neil Little will be inducted into the Phantoms Hall of Fame this Friday night when the Phantoms host the Hershey Bears. Little, who played for the Phantoms for eight seasons and holds all the franchise's major goaltending records, will join Bill Barber and Frank Bialowas in the Hall during a pregame ceremony that will feature highlights of Little's career and the presentation of several gifts.

VOCE NOMINATED FOR AHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

The Phantoms nominated Tony Voce for CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week honors this week. Voce scored in all four games this week as part of his current 10-game scoring streak, which is a Phantoms season high. He started the week with a two-goal night vs. Norfolk on Wednesday, and also registered three assists in Saturday's win at Hershey. For the week, Voce had two goals and five assists for seven points in four games and was a plus-4.

HOULE NOMINATED FOR AHL ROOKIE AND GOALIE OF THE MONTH

The Phantoms nominated goaltender Martin Houle for consideration of both AHL Rookie of the Month and Goaltender of the Month honors. Houle appeared in 12 of Philadelphia's 14 games during the month of March, collecting a record of 7-4 and posting a 2.51 goals-against average and a .922 save percentage. On March 29, Houle made a career-high 39 saves and earned his second career shutout in a 5-0 win over the Norfolk Admirals. He ended the month with four straight wins and allowed just five goals in those four games. He earned first star honors for the Norfolk shutout and second star honors in a 3-2 overtime win over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on March 17.

PHANTOMS NOTABLES

Philadelphia's five-game winning streak, which ended Sunday, was its longest of the season. During the streak, the Phantoms outscored their opponents 19-7...Last week, rookie defenseman Alexandre Picard was +8 in the four games. His plus-minus rating for the season flipped from -4 to +4. Defenseman Randy Jones was +6 and winger Brent Kelly was +5...The Phantoms have scored a first-period goal in nine consecutive games, and have scored the first goal of the game in each of the last seven games...The Phantoms have scored power play goals in eight of their last 10 (13-52 or 25%).
