Rampage Ink Five-Year-Old James Evans to One-Day Honorary Contract

April 4, 2016 - American Hockey League (AHL)
San Antonio Rampage News Release

The San Antonio Rampage will sign five-year-old James Evans to an honorary one-day contract on Wednesday, April 6 following the team's morning skate.

Evans showed tremendous toughness and courage when he was hit with a puck during warmups prior to the Silver and Black's game against the Texas Stars on Sunday, March 27. After receiving care from on-site paramedics, Evans was taken to the emergency room, where he received three staples in his head. A truly dedicated Rampage fan, Evans asked doctors if he would be done in time to make it back to the AT&T Center to watch the rest of the game. Evans returned in time to see the end of regulation and cheered San Antonio on to a 3-2 overtime victory.

"We're very impressed with James' perseverance and fortitude. When I heard he got stitched up and came right back, I knew we could use him," said Rampage coach Dean Chynoweth. "His courage and toughness will be a great addition to our locker room, and I'm confident he'll fit right in."

Evans will attend San Antonio's morning skate prior to Wednesday's contest against the San Jose Barracuda, meet the team and sign his one-day honorary contract following practice.
