
Week 26 Recap: IceHogs Pick up Three Points, Inch Clsoer to Playoff Berth

Week 26 Recap:
The Rockford IceHogs snapped their road winless streak in Wednesday's 1-0 victory over the Chicago Wolves at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont. Goaltender Mac Carruth picked up his second career shutout, making him the fourth IceHogs netminder to blank their opponent this season. However, Rockford saw their home point streak broken in Friday's 5-2 loss to the San Antonio Rampage, while also falling to the Iowa Wild at home on Saturday.

- Goaltender Mac Carruth registered his second career shutout in Chicago on Wednesday
- Both of Carruth's shutouts have come at Allstate Arena against the Wolves
- With Wednesday's perfect performance, all four goalies to appear in a game for Rockford this season have recorded a shutout
- Rockford ended their eight-game winless streak (0-6-2-0) on the road in Wednesday's 1-0 victory over the Wolves in Rosemont
- The San Antonio Rampage snapped Rockford's six-game point streak (5-0-1-0) at home on Friday
- Friday's loss to the Rampage marked the first time the IceHogs have lost in regulation when carrying a lead after the first 20 minutes of play
- Forward Chris DeSousa became the 11th different player to register a shorthanded goal for the IceHogs when he scored with the team down a skater on Friday
- The IceHogs scored shorthanded goals in back-to-back games when Mark McNeill tallied shorthanded in Saturday's loss to Iowa
- McNeill now leads the IceHogs will two shorthanded goals on the season
- Rockford is tied with Portland for third in the AHL with 12 shorthanded strikes this season
- Defenseman Robin Norell made his season debut on Saturday against Iowa
- Norell appeared in three Calder Cup Playoffs games last season but had not appeared in a regular season game
- Pierre-Cedric Labrie opened the scoring for Rockford on Friday and Saturday with his 19th and 20th tallies of the season
- Labrie is the second IceHogs skater to eclipse the 20-goal plateau this season
- The IceHogs lost their seventh straight game that has required overtime
- Rockford has dropped eight of their last nine games that have extended past regulation
- The IceHogs nine overtime losses this season are the most in the Western Conference and are tied with Providence for second most in the AHL behind Syracuse's 10
Hot Hog: Week 26
Pierre-Cedric Labrie (2GP, 2G, +1)
Forward Pierre-Cedric Labrie played in two games, picking up a goal in each contest for two points on the weekend. Labrie lit the lamp to get the IceHogs started in both games. Labrie became the second IceHogs skater to eclipse the 20-goal mark this season. The feat also accounts for the first time in his professional career that the forward has hit that mark.
Upcoming Games:
Tuesday, April 5 at Charlotte Checkers: Game starts at 6 p.m. Rockford visits the Checkers for the first game of a two-day series in Charlotte. The IceHogs come in to the first tilt with a matching season series record of 3-2-0-1 with the Checkers.
Wednesday, April 6 at Charlotte Checkers: Contest begins at 6 p.m. The IceHogs play their final contest of the season against the Checkers to wrap up the season series. Playoff implications areon the line as the teams sit in fourth and fifth in the standings.
Saturday, April 9 at Manitoba Moose: Game starts at 2 p.m. Rockford heads north of the border to face the Moose in a weekend series. Manitoba defeated the IceHogs in each of their two meetings in Rockford on Feb. 17 and Feb. 19.
Sunday, April 10 at Manitoba Moose: Game starts at 2 p.m. The IceHogs wrap up their season series with the Moose on their fourth of five road games before returning to the BMO Harris Bank Center on April 15.
