Jets Recall Kichton, Assign Lemieux
April 4, 2016 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Manitoba Moose News Release
The Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club, in conjunction with its AHL affiliate, the Manitoba Moose, announced that defenceman Brenden Kichton has been recalled from Manitoba and forward Brendan Lemieux has been assigned to the Moose after the completion of his junior season.
Kichton, 23, has played 65 games for the Manitoba Moose this season, leading the team in points with 38 (10G, 28A), along with 36 penalty minutes. He was recalled March 25 on an emergency basis by the Jets but did not play an NHL game. Kichton has 115 career AHL points (28G, 87A) in 206 games over three seasons. He was drafted by the Jets the seventh round, 190th overall, in the 2013 NHL Draft.
Lemieux was signed by the Jets in July to a three-year Entry Level Contract. He played this past season in the Ontario Hockey League starting the year with the Barrie Colts before being acquired by the Windsor Spitfires. Lemieux, 20, had 62 points (32G, 30A) in 45 games this past season and added five points (4G, 1A) in three playoff games. The Spitfires were defeated four games to one by the Kitchener Rangers in the first-round of the OHL playoffs.
Lemieux was acquired by the Jets in a trade on Feb. 11, 2015 that also brought Tyler Myers, Drew Stafford, Joel Armia and a first-round pick at the 2015 NHL Draft (Jack Roslovic) from Buffalo in exchange for Zach Bogosian, Evander Kane and Jason Kasdorf. Lemieux was drafted by the Sabres in the second round, 31st over-all in 2014.
