San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO - Bobby Butler and Drew Shore tallied a goal and an assist each to lead the San Antonio Rampage (9-6-0-0) to a 4-3 win over the Charlotte Checkers (4-8-1-0) in front of 5,223 on Saturday night at the AT&T Center.

Shore, who scored the Rampage's overtime goal on Friday night, opening the scoring on Saturday, beating MacIntyre from the left circle to give the Rampage a 1-0 lead just over three minutes into the game. Charlotte evened the game with a shorthanded goal by Greg Nemisz at 6:45, the second shorthanded goal the Rampage have allowed this season.

With the man advantage just past the midway point of the period, Steven Kampfer's cannon from the point was tipped by Garrett Wilson to give San Antonio the lead once again. The Silver and Black would make it 3-1 in the waning seconds of the frame with another power-play goal when Logan Shaw got his stick on Mark Mancari's shot from the slot and deflected it in. The three goals scored in the first stanza is the most for the Rampage in the opening period so far this season.

As was the case in Friday night's game, neither team found the back of the net in the second period. Bobby Butler extended San Antonio's lead to three early in the third, beating MacIntyre from the left circle, but the Checkers answered less than 90 seconds later to make it a two-goal game. Michal Jordan scored a power play goal at 16:11 to bring the Checkers within one, but the Rampage held on for the win.

San Antonio outshot the Checkers 40-30 and held Charlotte to one goal on five opportunities with the man advantage.

MVP With a goal and an assist on the night, Bobby Butler is now tied for fifth in the league in scoring. Butler has 16 points in 15 games for the Rampage this season and six in his last four games. KEY STAT Two of the Rampage's four goals came on the power play, as San Antonio finished the night 2-for-9 with the man advantage. The Rampage power play now ranks seventh in the AHL, converting at an 18.6% clip.
