Portland Pirates News Release

Portland, ME- The Portland Pirates redeemed themselves with a shutout of their own, beating the Albany Devils 2-0 Saturday evening after being shutout 3-0 by the Devils the night before. The game was a record-setting one for the Pirates. They went 169 consecutive minutes without a goal set the longest scoring drought in team history before the captain Alex Bolduc netted one in the second period.

The second period was filled with drama for the Pirates. Twelve seconds after the team made the history books for the longest time without a goal, Bolduc lit the lamp at 7:19, assisted by Jordan Martinook and Greg Carey.

At 13:46 Albany's Paul Thompson charged the net, bowling over Portland's goalie Louis Domingue. Thompson was charged with a 5 minute major for interference and left the contest with a game misconduct. Domingue came out of the game injured and Mike McKenna filled in on net for Portland.

Eric Selleck wrapped up the night with an unassisted empty netter with 39 seconds left in regulation. It was Selleck's first goal as a Pirate.

McKenna (3-5-0) and Domingue (5-2-0) split the shutout for the Pirates with Domingue recording the victory. Domingue saved all 14 pucks shot his way, while McKenna blocked 13. Albany's net minder was Scott Clemmensen who saved 23 of the 24 shots he faced.
