Rockford IceHogs News Release
Chicago, Ill. - The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have recalled forward Joakim Nordstrom from the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.
Nordstrom, 22, recorded eight points (5G, 3A), including three power-play goals, in 14 games with Rockford this season. Named the IceHogs captain on Oct. 28, Nordstrom notched a season-high two goals on Nov. 6 at Iowa. He also appeared in one preseason game with Chicago, posting a +1 plus/minus rating.
The Stockholm, Sweden, native registered three points (1G, 2A) in 16 regular-season games with the Blackhawks last year and appeared in seven 2014 Stanley Cup Playoff contests with Chicago.
Originally selected by the Blackhawks in the third round (90th overall) of the 2010 National Hockey League Draft, Nordstrom amassed 45 points (20G, 25A) in 129 regular-season tilts split between three levels of Sweden's AIK over parts of four seasons (2008-12), and tallied three points (1G, 2A) in 11 career postseason contests.
Next Home Game: Sunday, Nov. 16 vs. Texas Stars at 4 p.m. The IceHogs round out their first three-in-three set of the season as they host the defending Calder Cup Champion Texas Stars at the BMO Harris Bank Center. The game is officially sold out but those with tickets already can stay after the game's conclusion to take the ice with their favorite players in another rendition of "Skate with the Hogs."
