San Antonio Rampage News Release

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Playing their third game in three nights, the San Antonio Rampage dug deep in a 4-3 shootout win over the Syracuse Crunch Saturday night at the Onondaga County War Memorial at Oncenter.

The shootout lasted seven attempts, with the Rampage scoring on their first and last try to outscore Syracuse, 2-1, and emerge with their fifth victory halfway through the current 14-game road trip (5-1-1-0).

With the teams even at one goal apiece after the first five shooters, the game turned into a sudden death battle. Goaltender Josh Tordjman denied the next two Syracuse chances, and Enver Lisin - who recorded the team's third goal of the night - scored on the seventh attempt to give the Rampage a season-sweep of Syracuse.

Tordjman made 33 of 36 saves on his way to win No. 17, and fourth straight. The second-year netminder has won eight of nine starts, dating back to Dec. 29, and allowed three goals or less in 11 of his past 12 appearances.

Bill Thomas gave the Rampage the lead with a power-play tally at 11:17 of the opening period. The Rampage became the first opponent in Syracuse's last eight games to notch the opening score. The goal was Thomas' 28th with the Rampage, tied with Pascal Rheaume for ninth place in team history.

Syracuse evened the score on Derek Mackenzie's power-play marker with 52 seconds remaining in the period.

David Spina recaptured the lead with the first penalty shot attempt of the season for the Rampage. He beat Syracuse netminder Dan LaCosta with a top-shelf, backhanded tally, 1:51 into the second stanza. Spina entered double digits with his 10th goal and bumped the Rampage ahead again, 2-1.

Lisin pushed the lead to 3-1 with a breakaway goal at 6:11 of the final frame, his 15th tally of the year - tied for second on the team with Thomas, who assisted the goal. Thomas recorded a multiple-point night with the helper, moving into eighth place on the Rampage all-time points list at 64.

Joakim Lindstrom scored his 20th goal of the season at 7:35, and then assisted on Tom Sestito's goal at 12:07, as Syracuse pulled even. Lindstrom's two-point night put him at 47 for the season - ninth in the American Hockey League.

The Rampage tied a season-high with 21 shots on goal during the first period, one short of the team-record 22. LaCosta made 41 saves on 44 Rampage attempts. The Rampage improved to 6-2-0-1 against the AHL North Division this year.

The Rampage head to Toronto next, where they will face off with the first-place Marlies at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
