Amerks Visit Toronto, Announce Player Moves

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans will complete the home-and-home series against the Toronto Marlies today at 4:00 p.m. at Ricoh Coliseum. The afternoon matchup can be heard live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 networks.

Last night, Jeremy Williams scored just 1:20 into overtime to lift the Toronto Marlies over the Amerks at The Blue Cross Arena. With the loss, Rochester has dropped its ninth straight and 25 of its last 27 games. The Amerks fell to 0-6-0 against Toronto and 12-31-3-4 this season.

Toronto was led offensively by Alex Foster with a goal and an assist. Goaltender Justin Pogge made 27 saves in net for the division-leading Marlies. Marek Zagrapan and Mark Mancari provided the scoring for the Amerks as first-year netminder Tyler Plante registered 23 saves.

Rochester Americans General Manager Jody Gage announced today that the Florida Panthers have recalled forwards Stefan Meyer and David Brine from the Amerks.

Meyer, 22, receives his third NHL promotion this season. The Fox Valley, Saskatchewan, native has registered 28 points (16+12) and 37 PIM in 45 games with Rochester. The fourth-year left wing has skated in three games with the Panthers this season.

Brine receives his first call to the show this season. The 6-foot-1, 201-pound Truro, Nova Scotia, native has 15 points (8+7) and 20 PIM in 47 appearances with Rochester.

The team has also announced today that it signed center Yannick Tifu to a 25-game PTO. Tifu, a 5-foot-11, 185-pound forward, joins Rochester after splitting the season with the Albany River Rats and the Dayton Bombers of the ECHL. While with the River Rats, Tifu appeared in nine games, collecting five points (2+3). The Brossard, Quebec, native has 54 points (13+41) in 37 games with Dayton.

The Rochester Americans host the Syracuse Crunch on Wednesday, February 6th at 7:05 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena. The game can be heard live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 networks. The contest will be televised live on Time Warner SportsNet Channel 26.
