February 2, 2008 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
WINNIPEG, MB - Corey Locke became the Hamilton Bulldogs' all-time leading goal scorer with his 72nd career tally, and Carey Price recorded his first-career regular season AHL shutout in the 'Dogs 2-0 win over the Manitoba Moose on Saturday night at the MTS Centre. With the win, the Bulldogs extend their season-high road-winning streak to five games, and improve their record to 21-19-1-5 on the season.
There was no scoring in the first or second periods of the game. Hamilton out-shot Manitoba 10-to-9 in the opening frame and the Moose returned the favour with an 11-to-6 advantage in the middle stanza, but neither team could muster a goal after 40 minutes.
In the third period, Duncan Milroy banged home his 10th goal of the season for the Bulldogs at the 13:59 mark to make the score 1-0. Daniel Corso and Corey Locke earned assists on the game's eventual winning goal. With the helper, Locke tied Peter Sarno as Hamilton's all-time leader with 123 assists and needs one more to set the franchise mark in that category.
With just 53 seconds left in the game, Locke scored an empty-net marker to become Hamilton's all-time franchise leader in goals with 72, surpassing Brian Swanson and Tomas Plekanec who each had 71 tallies as a Bulldog. Corso and Pavel Valentenko earned helpers on the 2-0 goal.
Between the pipes, Price earned his first-career regular season AHL shutout with 25 saves for Hamilton, while Manitoba netminder Drew MacIntyre stopped 25 of 26 shots in a losing effort.
The 'Dogs were 0-for-5 on the power play and a perfect 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.
